Possibly the most influential moment in our history where we once and for all signified that the Throne was not infallable, is largely undertaught. Possibly also one of the most fascinating eras in our history also with ever more detailed primary source materials to rely on and a palpable clash of not just catholic and Protestant, but throne and nobility vs the voice of the people. Witchfinders plied their trade and demons and evil crawled on the edge of pockets of civilisation. It's perfect for roleplay games.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764158821384594980.post-66998342209784451272011-10-03T16:55:54.791-04:002011-10-03T16:55:54.791-04:00I had a Canadian laugh right in my face about my k...I had a Canadian laugh right in my face about my knowledge of the War of 1812.Lowell Francishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02359280169506945906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764158821384594980.post-79676281068000652372011-10-03T16:04:00.303-04:002011-10-03T16:04:00.303-04:00That was a rather curmudgeonly post on my part but...That was a rather curmudgeonly post on my part but I guarantee that no-one I know would know who or what the Lollards were. Bar 2 or 3 people. At school we learn about the Romans, the Normans, the Tudors and then... The Nazis. If you take it at A Level (last 2 years of school before university) then you get onto the French Third Republic (which is actually fascinating). OK, that was still very grumpy old man. Whoops.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10678503778316350427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764158821384594980.post-36439196165537171982011-10-03T15:02:28.507-04:002011-10-03T15:02:28.507-04:00I'm both pleased and horrified by your comment...I'm both pleased and horrified by your comment.Lowell Francishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02359280169506945906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764158821384594980.post-74756278093874269632011-10-03T13:59:03.008-04:002011-10-03T13:59:03.008-04:00I think you'll probably find that for the vast...I think you'll probably find that for the vast majority of British people this period will be completely unknown. Our school system is utterly woeful about educating us about our own country's history. You now know more about the period than 99% of the UK.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10678503778316350427noreply@blogger.com
