Back to regular blogging tomorrow-- however I followed a link from Robin Laws' site to a
really, really interesting session report here. I think that's a brilliant approach to building a one-shot game and really plays into the strengths of
HeroQuest as I've seen them. In fact it is sort of stupidly brilliant in that "why didn't I think of it" way. I've been considering how to try out HQ2, and I think I will probably have to borrow that collaborative model.
Damn, that sounds like s#!t I'd do. I wanted to make characters in that vein either for comics or a game. F'rinstance, a wizard of corporate magic: he could travel from any one franchise location to any other similar franchise in the world. Usually by closing a toilet stall and showing up at a similar toilet stall elsewhere. I'd love to play in a campaign like that.
ReplyDeleteThose were some wacky characters. I wonder how much of their previous RPG experience played into that?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a hoot. Great fun! Brian Isikoff talked about a convention game he ran with similar player input on the adventure -- little to no prep at all -- on the 2d6 Feet podcast.
^^ Episode 39.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check that out. I really want to try this technique some time.
